Prevent packing on holiday weight

Holidays are joyful times to share with loved ones.  Family and friend gatherings are plenty during holidays.  These events are known for abundance of delicious meals that are high in sugar and fats.  An average American gain seven to 10 pounds over the festive holiday season.

Find a suitable way to burn calories during the holidays and avoid unnecessary stress.  A Yoga session for instance, could burn up to 700 calories.  If you commit to four classes for a week, it will compensate handsomely for your over indulgence during the holiday period.

One area to watch carefully is your consumption of sweet beverages and alcohol during the holidays.  Hot cocoa, whipped creamed topped beverages, and cocktails are loaded with calories.  The homemade eggnog contains 400 to 500 calories a cup compared to store bought varieties that doesn’t have alcohol contain only 100 to 200 calories.  So, avoid extra calories by drinking lots of water.  If you feel like consuming a glass of alcohol, go for the lighter kinds of beer and get a half a serving of wine and alcohol.  That will keep your calorie intake in check during the holiday season and out of trouble on the road.
