Myths about weight loss

Food plays a big role in weight loss. If you exercise hard and take a liberal attitude in eating because you exercise hard, you will not reach the desired benefits of your hard work. Here are some myths about food and exercise.

  • Extreme diet is the best way to lose weight. This is not true. You can’t continue to diet forever. Somewhere you have to start eating again to maintain your body. That is where weight creeps in again. So, take small steps that expand over a period of time. This will become part of your lifestyle.
  • Drinking water to fill your stomach makes you bloated. False. If you don’t drink water, your body starts to retain water adding to your weight. Drink at least eight glasses of eight ounce each a day.
  • Skipping meals helps you lose weight. False again. This forces your metabolism to slow down for the fear of lack of food. Eat small amounts more often.
  • All carbs are bad. False. Cutting carbs will deprive your body of essential fiber, vitamins and minerals. Eat more complex carbs such as legumes, fruits, and vegetables. Avoid simple carbs such as sugar and bread that breaks down fast and make you hungry more often.
